My wife, Clare, and I are transplants from Bozeman, Montana. We moved here in search for a place to ski and do some engineering.... Well I did any way, and Clare came to attend the U of U. The climate along the Wasatch is so wonderful! Four distinct seasons, plenty of deep snow in the winter, and lots and lots of sunshine all year long!
Skiing was a way of life growing up. My mom and dad were / are avid skiers and brought the whole family criss-crossing Montana in the winter to hit the local races and to search out deep snow. In the early 80's I was introduced to the tele boards by my older brothers. So when I moved to Ogden, I found some friends that skied Franklin Peak and Cutler Ridge on a regular basis, and became familiar with the North Fork park area.
In 1999, our family moved to Liberty. At that time there was no Nordic Skiing effort in North Fork...but plenty of snow and great scenery! In 2002, I contacted Dave Jenkins and offered to help him with an initial grooming effort. We rounded up a sad, and well used, sled and drag from TUNA in SLC and began to groom. In those days we were down due to mechancals and too much snow as much as we were up grooming.
As you know, Dave and his crew now regularly maintain over 20 km of great trails in North Fork! What a fantastic job !
I can say that it is a pleasure to work with such dedicated, up beat, and optimistic people as we have in Ogden Nordic! I want to thank all of our volunteers who spend the time to groom, coach, and organize things. Many of our volunteers don't ski very much, but enjoy the work, and cheerfully dedicate their time for the cause. We are very thankful for their time and thoughtfulness!
One of our main goals is to create a "Notable" Nordic Venue for the folks who live and visit our valley and the Ogden Area.
Enjoy the grooming, the gliding, and the scenery!. And then, let us know how you feel about it.
Sincerely,
Terry Davis
