Situated
at the base of Snowbasin Ski and Summer Resort, this is a beautiful
place to ski with the whole family and offers great food and day
lodges. The Nordic trails normally open in mid to late December,
depending on snow depth, and remain open until April. Daily grooming
is provided by Snowbasin on 26km of classic and skating trails.
The trails wind through beautiful glades and meadows under towering
mountain peaks. Skier use is still light to moderate on weekends
and holidays.
Snowbasin's Nordic trails are suitable for skiers of all abilities. There
are several good starter trails at the resort called "The
Meadows", "Maples", or "The Stadium" area. For longer and more
difficult tours, head towards "Green Pond", "Art Nord trails" and the
"Old Snow Basin Road" (maintained by the US Forest Service).
Parking
is in the lower lot (The Olympic Lot) and just steps from teh trail
head. There is no charge for Snowbasin's Nordic trails. Nordic ski rentals and instruction is available through the ski shop and ski school.
