About Us
|
Ogden Nordic is a chapter of The Utah Nordic Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to the sport of Nordic Skiing. Our group initially took shape in 1997 and focused on a juniors program. Our mission expanded in 2002 when we began our efforts to groom North Fork Park in cooperation with Weber County.
Our 2009-2010 outreach initiatives include;
- Host and groom for the Winter Version of the Utah Special Olympics.
- Host 3 learn to ski clinics. Last year we hosted US Olympian, Abby Larson.
- Host Winter Trails Day. Open to the public to try the winter trails.
- Junior's after school ski program.
- Master's Fun Series Races
- Host Moon Light Glides during Jan, Feb, March. Come and enjoy moon lite trails.
Since we recognize the mutual benefit that trails and pathways offer the community over all 4 seasons, we actively work to support Weber Pathways, Ogden Valley Pathways, and the Utah Back Country Horseman. The development, preservation, and maintenance of Non-Motorized trails for multiple user groups such as skiers, hikers, bikers, and horsemen benefit our members all year long and enable pleasant winter gliding in our scenic mountains. Please remember to share the trail with these other groups.

Hello to Nordic Skiers and Snowshoers of North Fork Park. The 2009-2010 season is here and the track is fantastic! So, order your pass and do some gliding...always good for the soul!
As you know, the trails, grooming, signage, and Porta Johns are maintained and funded by Ogden Nordic. We are 100 % volunteer and have no paid staff. So, it is up to us to raise money for fuel, equipment, repair, and replacement.
This year your pass is also usable for skiing the Mountain Dell trail system which is maintained by SLC TUNA. So check out the great skiing there as well.

The Grooming Team is lead by an 8 year vetrain and snow forecaster, Dave Jenkins (Eden). The team consists of 24 people dedicated to the idea that good grooming makes for great skiing.
The grooming plan calls for the nights of Sun, Tues, Thurs, Friday, and Sat so the skiing is ready first thing the next morning.
This year the team returns many vetrains, so expectations are high for great skiing conditions. Volunteers groom twice a month and do their work mostly in the dark, after dusk or before dawn. This allows the snow time to set up and creates an an optimal surface for gliding.

Our mission is to promote the sport of cross country skiing in the Ogden Area through information, facilitation, coaching, events, and social gatherings.
Our primary goal is the facilitation of a "Notable" Nordic Venue for the Ogden Area. We continue to make progress helping Weber County make North Fork Park a 4 season venue. This park is well suited for great skiing from November to April and has 20 km of trails. Situated on the North side of Ben Lomand mountain at an elevation of 6,000 feet, this park holds great snow and is quite scenic. By working with Weber County, our dedicated sponsors, the pathways organizations, Swanson's Environmental Center and The Utah Nordic Alliance, we are creating a sustainable venue where the gliding, the grooming, and over all experience is great all season long.
